Props
Props also have a key role in the mise-en-scene throughout the music video as they can allow an audience to relate to the characters if they see a prop similar to one they have in real life. We will not be using that many props in our music, most of the props we have already so will not have to buy them, however we will have to buy one prop, which is the mum reef. Below are the photos of the props that we have used in our video.
Torch
We will use a torch as a prop as there will be no lighting in the scenes with Isaac when he is waking up so therefore we will use a torch as it is a common item for children to have near their bed when they are young in case they wake up as they are often scared of the dark. The torch also then creates the light that we need to film the piece to the best quality that we possibly can.
Alcohol Bottles/Cans
We will use an empty vodka bottle and fill it up with water so that the mum is not actually drinking vodka although it will look like that. We will also use a bottle of Budweiser and a can of Magners, these will both be empty so therefore will not spill over the carpet or any of the equipment that we are going to be using. These will also allow the audience to easily identify that it is alcohol as they will all still have the labels on.
Teddy Bear
We will be using a teddy bear throughout our piece as a teddy bear is a very common item for a young child to have. Therefore it will be one of our main focuses throughout our video. We will use it as a way to show that Sam and Isaac are actually the same person so that the audience are not as confused as they may have been. I think that the teddy bear will be a very useful prop for us to use in the music video.
Mum Reef
We will be using a mum reef and placing it in front of a grave to illustrate that the mum has died. This is the one prop that myself and Joe will have to pay for, we bought the reef for £22, and so we split the cost. We feel as if this was the most effective way of illustrating what we wanted as so therefore thought that £22 was not a bad price to pay.
